Meet Our Founder & CEO
The VIP RoundTable was founded by Minister Barrington Smallwood in 2014. I was unemployed and depressed, desperately searching for a deeper purpose for my life, I came to the realization that attending church was not enough, I knew God had more. One day, I heard the Holy Spirit whisper to me saying Barrington, the young people in this city need you! Get up from your pity and go make a difference! When entering Woodland Terrace, I was met by many troubled youths who willingly allowed me into their neighborhood to pray for them and to become a friend. Many of those kids were heavily involved in gang violence, drugs and other destructive activities, but they took time to hang out with me. My life has never been the same from that day forward. In 2020. many families were devastated by the effects of Covid 19 and were in great need of hope, encouragement and sustainable resources.
By God's grace the VIP RoundTable was able to minister to the needs of our residents by providing furniture, groceries, gift cards, and weekly fresh meals from Founding Farmers and Chik-Fila. We spent time visiting the residents' homes, praying and caring for them because we believe that love is the mark of the Christian experience. We have mentored many young people who were on the verge of committing crimes and running with the wrong crowds, who are now responsible, respectable young men and women today. Since we have been faithfully serving the community, we have been blessed to gain many friendships from community partners, who share in the same vision to bring new life, joy and empowerment to a neighborhood that many say can't be saved.
